VÚB

VÚB a.s. builds on a long tradition of research and development in textile engineering. The company was established in 1949 as the Cotton Industry Research Institute, which soon became a leading centre for textile engineering and technology R&D. It played a significant role in the origin, development, and global expansion of OE rotor spinning technology, working in close cooperation with Elitex (originally Kovostav, now Rieter). Between 1960 and 1990, more than 300 patents were granted in 30 countries for inventions related to rotor spinning research and development.

In the 1990s, the former state research institute was transformed into the private joint-stock company VÚB a.s. Today, VÚB is an innovative SME that builds on its heritage while developing several key activities.

In the CISUTAC consortium, EP is:

  • Collaboration with Earth Protex on TRL 4–6 scale-up

  • Supporting development and scale-up of OE and Ring spinning prototypes for UpSpun™  proprietary hybrid yarn spinning technology enabling fibre-to-fibre recycling of cotton

  • Spinning technology for upcycling short recycled staple fibres combined with man-made cellulosic.

  • Customization and testing of Wraply™ & Korely™ modules

  • Spinning machine parts design, engineering, yarn spinning pilot mill

  • Preparing retrofittable machinery designs for EU-based mills

  • Reinforcing yarn innovation through mechanical precision
