CISUTAC Sustainability Forum
The CISUTAC Sustainability Forum is a webinar series designed to foster knowledge-sharing and dialogue around sustainable practices in the textile sector. Developed as an accessible, modular learning experience, the series explores key topics including the textile decision tree, sorting for reuse and repair, recycling pathways, circular design principles, consumer behavior, and effective consumer interventions. Each session brings together experts, innovators, and engaged stakeholders to unpack practical strategies for closing the loop in textiles and advancing circularity across the value chain. The series aims to support professionals, researchers, and changemakers in building a more sustainable and resilient textile system.
Building on the CISUTAC Practical Guide and Checklist for Key Data for Reuse, Repair and Recycling, the session will share practical insights from CISUTAC partners involved in the sorting pilot. This pilot focuses on improving textile sorting for reuse and recycling through a semi-automated decision-support tool that supports better assessment and classification of used textiles.
The current policy and industry landscape presents a paradox, as textile circular models need to address the problems of linear business practices while at the same time competing with them on the market. This webinar will explore the current landscape of circular business models for textiles, key market trends, the challenges these businesses face and the measures needed to overcome them and unlock their potential.
The third webinar in the CISUTAC Sustainability Forum series will explore the latest EU policy developments shaping textile circularity. As the European Union accelerates its transition toward a circular economy, several key regulatory initiatives are set to transform how textiles are designed, produced, and managed throughout their lifecycle.
Consumers play a crucial role in the transition from a linear to a circular textile system. Understanding their motivations, barriers, and behaviors is key to designing effective interventions and building strong partnerships for sustainable solutions towards a more circular economy. This webinar will share key insights from recent studies and hands-on actions in second-hand use, repair, and textile donation.
Deeply rooted in communities, the fashion and textile sector holds significant cultural and economic value, providing livelihoods and reinforcing local identities, while also presenting environmental and social challenges across its entire lifecycle. This webinar will present key findings on textile waste collection, highlight practical case studies, and discuss the impact of citizen behaviour on waste prevention.
