Wageningen University & Research

Wageningen Economic Research, contributes to the mission of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) to explore the potential of nature, and improve the quality of life by supporting the analysis of opportunities and responses for transitions towards integrated agrofood systems and policies and a sustainable inclusive economy. Given today’s global challenges, we dedicate our knowledge and expertise to the identification, assessment and creation of solutions for providing sustainably produced, healthy and safe food for all. This leads to the following raison d’être: To improve quality of life, we analyse and design effective incentives and policies. It is our strength to develop new insights through an integrated approach based on our market intelligence, models and data, sector and domain expertise and in interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders. Wageningen Economic Research carries out applied scientific economic research for government bodies, companies and other types of organisations. Using our expertise, unique data, models and analyses, and assisted by the (international) partners we cooperate with, we develop new insights and useful tools for our clients and stakeholders. This lets us ensure that the latest scientific knowledge in our field can be applied. We explore and explain, so that you can enhance your policy or strategy, thereby laying the foundations for ‘earning’ more, not only in a financial sense, but also for your organisation, your clients, the environment and society.

Wageningen Food & Biobased Research (also part of WUR) develops insights and technologies that support companies, governments and other research institutes in creating innovative solutions for a healthier, more sustainable and prosperous world. We partner in the creation and production of healthy and tasty foods, of truly-sustainable food chains, and in developing chemicals and materials that use biomass instead of fossil resources. Our in-depth knowledge of the entire chain, from raw materials through processing to end product, drives our approach.

In the CISUTAC consortium, WUR will participate in:

  • Sectoral Digital and Infrastructural aspects tasks: Closing the loop, Gap analysis, infrastructure needs, product and material flows. Scenario building.

  • Unravelling and quantifying consumers’ acceptance and behaviour.

  • Circular garments- fibre to fibre recycling

  • Developing the MOOC
